National Parks
There are about 450 000
hectares of protected natural assets in Croatia and 44 herbal and 381 animal
species are protected. Over 400 bears roam wild in the mountain forests
and wild sheep, mountain goats, wild cats, wolves and an abundance of lynx
live happily here. The amount of bird life is too vast to mention! Of
course, there are the various geological phenomena too - mountains,
valleys, canyons, sinkholes, ravines, springs, gorges and caves, some
unexploited.
In 1979 UNESCO has
declared National Park «Plitvička jezera» as world's natural heritage.

"Heaven on Earth" has been
described in many books by artists, in paintings and countless
photographs. "God wanted to crown his creation, so on the last day he
created the Croatian Adriatic from his tears, the stars and sea
breeze",wrote an author long ago about the splendour of this most
beautiful and preserved ecological corner of the modern world.
Don't forget
